A family in Summit is seeking a nanny to care for their two children, ages four and nine. Nanny has the option to choose a live-in or live-out situation. The exact schedule is not definite yet, but Nanny should plan on Monday to Friday from roughly 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. She must be able to stay later 1x/week on average for work commitments we have.
Duties:
Morning duties include helping with breakfast and getting the kids organized and off to school. Basic tidying up after the children, including vacuuming. Doing the family’s laundry. Shopping for groceries and preparing meals and basic snacks for the children only. Making appointments for the children. Providing transportation to and/or from school. Supervising homework, playdates, dinner, and bath time.
Ideal nanny:
The ideal nanny for this family is warm, calming, organized, and will run the household the way the family has done it in their previous home. Looking for someone to support these very active and social children by taking the initiative to involve them in the community, organize playdates and car pools, etc. Preferred (but not required): a caregiver who has a college degree and/or is able to help the children with homework, is able to swim, and is willing to travel with the family.
About the children:
This 9-year-old is caring, thoughtful, energetic, inquisitive, and quick-witted. She loves reading and art, but math can be challenging for her. Her after-school activities include dance (lyrical & hip-hop), lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, and tennis. She is a very active 9-year-old! She loves imaginative play, physical play, and games. She is usually the ringleader in her group, coming up with fun ideas, initiating games, and organizing her group of friends.
This 4-year-old is a very active, physical boy who loves to follow anything his sister does! He is active, silly, and sweet. He has a slight stutter and will likely have weekly speech therapy. His after-school activities include soccer, lacrosse, golf, and tennis.
About the parents:
These parents are warm and easygoing with an organized, tidy home. Mom is ‘Type A’, very committed, even-tempered, loyal, and caring. Dad is kind, hardworking, smart, but not a morning person!
When situations escalate in the home, these parents encourage the children to take a break and sit in their rooms to calm down, de-escalate, and think about why they are not being a good listener to what is being asked of them.
