More details:
A single mother in Paramus is looking for a reliable, responsible, take-charge part-time nanny to take care of her two children, ages 4 years old and 11 years old. Care will primarily be for one child, with occasional supervision for the other child. The schedule is Monday to Thursday from 2:30PM to 7:30PM. This schedule may increase based on the summer camp schedule. This position is on the books only.
Duties:
Supervising homework, preparing snacks, and transporting children to afterschool activities when needed. Ensuring a safe and supportive environment while managing playtime and downtime. Household errands may include: children’s laundry, basic tidying after children. Meal preparation including cooking involved for children, basic (snacks etc.)
Ideal nanny:
The ideal nanny is reliable, punctual, responsible with a clean driving record. The candidate should strive to be an asset to the home and make mom’s life easier. Additional language skills (in Spanish or French) are a plus but not required. For this household, the ideal nanny should be able to handle conflict and make judgment calls without having to overcommunicate with single, working Mom. Looking for someone who can take charge and take initiative.
About the children:
The 11-year-old enjoys music, art, and sports. He’s very smart, though he has difficulty focusing. He has ADHD and is quick to react and sometimes may react emotionally. As a note, he walks home from school by himself.
The 4-year-old is very smart and independent. He’s mature beyond his age, a good communicator and self-starter. He loves math and science, as well as swimming and soccer. He is sweet and shy around new people, but when he’s with his brother, he has a stronger personality.
These siblings get along, but go at each other at least once a day. When they’re not getting along, it’s important to let the conflict run its course or to use proper judgment to decide whether to intervene. For example, name calling may depend on the severity, whereas violence should be met with immediate action.
About the parent:
This single mother is a very busy, no-nonsense professional. She’s very organized and straightforward. This household follows a strict structure with discipline methods involving timeout and privilege removal, etc. Because of Mom’s busy schedule, the ideal nanny would only contact Mom in the event of a true emergency (i.e., bleeding, serious injury, etc).
Benefits:
On the books position. Salary plus paid vacation days off, paid holidays off, paid sick days off, and paid personal days off.
Position Code: G501PM
